In Ingenious, the aim of each player is to score points in the six colours by playing tiles onto the board. Each tile shows two colours, which may be the same. These tiles are placed on the board and score points for matching colours radiating out from each half of the tile. The final score is based on the lowest of your six scores, so you have to balance your scores across the six colours to achieve a good result. The game ends when no further tiles can be played, or when a player reaches a score of 18 in all six colours.

Ingenious was designed by Reiner Knizia and is published by Kosmos Games (German edition) and Sophisticated Games (English edition). The German edition was called Einfach Genial, while the English edition was published under the title Mensa Connections.
