Phase 2 - The Judge in Circuit
![]() |
Welcome to Phase 2 of Francis Tresham's Legacy. Phase 1 was making 1825
kits available. There are still a few of those items available - see the original Legacy page for details, which also explains how
the Francis Tresham legacy came to be in my hands. The main focus of Phase 2 is making his last completed game - The Judge in Circuit - available. This game started development around 1985 and was considered complete in 2018, and although most of the components had been printed, the games never got assembled and made generally available to the public. (A few copies did make it out into the wild...) I now have the bulk of the components, and am taking it to the finish line on behalf of the family. It is definitely not 18xx. It is a much lighter game, includes dice (well, one...), and your task, as someone on the wrong side of the law, is to be the first to get into a specified number of prisons. As Francis said himself, if you don't win you can always point out that winning this game is morally indefensible. It is meant to be fun, so don't spoil things by trying to take it seriously. There is an entry for the game on BoardGameGeek, although there is precious little information there at the moment. It is difficult to know how much interest there will be in this game. To that end, my approach will be to invite expressions of interest so that I can tell how many rule books to print, how many shipping boxes to order, and so on. Once I have that and am able to start assembling games, I will work through those expressions of interest in the order they were received, and start delivering the goods. In the meantime I have recreated the rule book, had the Trial/Prison board adjusted and reprinted, and added some additional cards to help track the game state. You can view the rule book before you decide whether this is for you. |
To express your interest, send an email to keith@thomasson.com with FTL or JIC in the subject line, making sure to tell me which country you are from. I don't need your full address now, but knowing your country means that when I get to the point of sending out order confirmations, I know how much postage to apply to each order.
The game itself will be £35. with the majority of that going to the Tresham estate. The table below gives an estimate of the post and packing costs to different parts of the world, so you know what ballpark cost you are looking at. I have shown local currency equivalents, but bear in mind that these are based on when I checked the conversion rates, and, as you know, they do not remain static. I am not planning on checking the accuracy of these on a regular basis as the markets fluctuate. Payment will be via PayPal (preferred) or bank transfer.
Note that any import duties on shipments are outside my control. I cannot under-declare the value of the shipment, as this is fraud.
