The Diplomacy Zine Poll has been running for a good long time. The Zine Poll is a more recent innovation, and the Amateur Gaming Web Site Poll even more recent. Hobby members can vote for any zines/web sites that meet the requirements of either poll. The results can be taken seriously, laughed at or ignored.

There is some debate as to whether the polls contribute anything of value to the hobby. In my view they give an indication of current popularity but should not be taken seriously. The effort that an editor puts into persuading subscribers to vote can make a lot of difference to the results, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. If they put the effort in, that in itself may justify their position.

It gives a nice feeling when your zine achieves a reasonable position in the poll. It can worry some people when they don't do that well, but if they still enjoy publishing their zine they shouldn't worry about the results and carry on enjoying what they do.
